Nightclub DJ

A club booking is not a playlist with a person standing behind it. It is reading which way a floor is about to go and getting there first. That is the whole job and it is why residencies exist.

Nightclub DJ Melbourne, VTKAY

Reads the room live

The set gets built on the night. A room at eleven wants something different to the same room at one, and a DJ who cannot tell the difference empties a floor slowly enough that nobody notices until it is gone.

Any slot in the night

Warm up, peak, or close. Each is a genuinely different skill and the set is built for the slot you are actually booking rather than one set played at every volume.

Turns up prepared

Equipment requirements confirmed in advance, arrives early, checks the booth before doors. The unglamorous part is what gets a DJ rebooked.

Questions

Good to know

What equipment do you need?
Standard club setup with CDJs or a controller and a mixer. She brings her own USBs and headphones. Confirm your booth setup when booking.
How long is a set?
Anywhere from one to four hours. Tell her the slot and the room and the set is built to fit.
Can you play other genres too?
Yes. Amapiano and Afrobeats are the signature but R and B, hip hop and commercial all sit in the sets where the room calls for it.
